Bev’s Bio & Contact

image1-3

A picture of ourselves as a child is a reminder of our potential and a reminder faeries are real. It also keeps us in touch with the vulnerable side and reminds us to be gentle with our precious lives. (oh, and I was so much cuter at 8)

Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Friend, Companion, Lover, Mentor, Student, Humanitarian, Dreamer………….

That’s usually all I write when asked for a Bio but I guess with everyone sharing so much with me and considering my post, there really are no secrets here.  So the following is my Bio..

I was born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia.    After a wild youth I left the East Coast and headed to Vancouver, BC to settle down, (yeah right).  Since settling on the West Coast I have moved through several careers. Working for both Canadian and US Corporations in both educational and medical technologies.  I also owned and operated a Medical Supply Store in Vancouver for 5 years.

In the year 2000 with the Y2K crisis behind us, (what a hoot working for a tech company through that), I decided to leave the city and relocated to Vancouver Island.

In 8 years on my Island in the Pacific I have worked in career counselling, business consulting and since 2004 as the Executive Director of ValleyLinks a local non-profit.  I left the corporate grind in the city and have followed passion in all career choices since relocating, I even had a suit disposal ceremony to officially leave the board room and join Island time, (yes we still have boardrooms but you don’t need a suit to enter).

I have recently completed my Certification as a Volunteer Administrator and have attained my international CVA designation.  I have also recently become a Lay Chaplain with my local Unitarian Fellowship and am thrilled to be performing weddings, welcoming & celebration of life ceremonies.

In my spare time I am a wannabe geek, I blog, facebook, build sites for other people and organizations, play World of Warcraft, fix stuff and just try to keep up with the fast paced world of technology.  One of my favorite things to do is be with my son and of course our crazy dog Kismet, at the beach would be nice but anywhere is good.

I am so glad to have a friend that I can chat with that can understand what is happening. I will definetly be reading your blog. Hopefully I can begin to see the glass as half-full instead of half-empty. Thank you, even though we can’t have coffee together I still think of you.

  2. Hi Molly,

I will try to phone you in the next day or two.

    Bev
